Here is what Mother Nature does when an Ambrosia Beatle eats it's way into a Maple tree. All the dark area is caused by bugs getting into the wood. Look carefully and you will see the actual bug holes in the wood. This bowl was turned very thin but still can be used as a utility bowl. The finish is my own high gloss and it does shine. This is the actual piece you will receive not one like it. THIS BOWL HAS A FOOD SAFE FINISH.
